The price of fluorine protein foam fire extinguishing agent is higher than that of protein foam, and the price of water-based film-forming foam is high. Under normal storage environment, the shelf life of fluoroprotein foam extinguishing agent is 2 years, and the shelf life of water-based film-forming foam is longer, more than 8 years.


Influence of Water Source on Foam Extinguishing Agent


Fresh water is the source of water for all types of foam mixtures. However, under special circumstances, such as a fire in a large oil tank area located on the sea, it is very likely that seawater will be used to configure the foam mixture. According to Article 2.1.4 of the Code for Design of Low Expansion Foam Fire Extinguishing System, the water source for preparing foam mixture shall meet the following requirements: protein, fluorine protein and anti-solubility fluorine protein foam extinguishing agent, which can be prepared into foam mixture, and fresh water or seawater can be used; for all kinds of foam liquid, when configured as foam mixture, it is forbidden to use water that affects the fire extinguishing performance of foam;


Compatibility of Fluoroprotein Foam Fire Extinguishing Agent


Different types of foam extinguishing agents or the same type of foam extinguishing agents made by different processes cannot be mixed. Because mixing with each other will lead to the deterioration of its surface and interface properties, precipitation, turbidity and other phenomena, thus significantly reducing the foam performance. When fighting large oil tank fires, the use of the same extinguishing agent is better than the simultaneous use of multiple foam extinguishing agents.
